bookluvingbabe
It's been five years. We still haven't found decent carry out Italian in the area. Biscotti was or go to for a while but it has gone downhill lately. Il Porto on Muddy Branch was inedible. I have not tried Buca di Peppo but I can't imagine it would be decent. Mamma Lucias has not been a hit. We just want a decent red-checked tablecloth style place within 15 minutes of Gaithersburg. Does it exist? dcs
I have had some good lunches at Il Porto (at the restaurant; not take-out). Maybe you had a bad night. What were you served that was inedible?
DanielK
Which Mamma Lucia's location did you go to? The one in Federal Plaza in Rockville is miles better than the other branches. It's the only red-sauce Italian in the area that I return to, but I can't imagine doing takeout. Nothing they serve there is going to improve after 10-15 minutes in the car. MarkS
[Drink more cheap wine and the food does taste better. I totally agree with you, my sons like Mamas in Fallsgrove. I like it after two glasses of wine!!
bookluvingbabe
Il Porto-- the carbonara was drenched in black pepper and had large chunks of undercooked onion in it. We go to the Falls Grove Mama Lucia's--the Federal Plaza location is too far for carryout but could be an option for dinner on a school night if I were so inclined. The 4 year old would be sad that there is no Krispy Kreme next door.

bookluvingbabe
Zio's? We haven't tried that! I will suggest it next weekend. The little guy is usually asleep by 6:30 or 7 on weekends and our secret indulgence is to get carryout and watch tv after he goes to bed on Sunday nights. Thanks!
