El Antojito, Deli-Like Bolivian Carryout in Olney - Salteñas and Empanadas on Georgia Avenue - Closed

Recommended Posts

Caveat - I have never been to this place, the only thing I have tried are the Saltenas and they were brought to a DC United tailgate a couple weeks ago by one of the employees (may have been the owner)

But, I can say the Saltenas were one of the best things I've tried all year.

I've never been to Olney...not sure I ever will...but I would go to have these saltenas again. Little smaller than a baseball, golden brown, insanely juicey (like dripping down your arm juicey), delicious.

Anyone in the Olney area? You should go and report back.

Judging from the photos on their website, appears to be located in the Olney Center (same as Mannequin Pis)

I've been, went with my sister who spent 5 years in Bolivia a month or so ago and she claimed these salteña's to be the best she's had in the DC area!

We only had the salteñas, tried all 3 varieties (chicken, chicken and beef, beef), we liked the beef best.

El Antojito is 2 doors down from Mannequin Pis.

They can make them frozen for you to cook yourself, I've ordered 60 to take down to my niece's graduation party, the bolivian side of the family is attending, I hope this is a nice surprise!

Four stars for the salteña's alone!

I live near Olney and have been to this place several times for lunch. The only thing I have tried are the Saltenas and they were WONDERFUL. So far I have tried at least one each of each type and no favorites have emerged - they are all good. Staff is consistently friendly and helpful. The place is quite small, basically a carryout with very limited seating. The prices are very reasonable too. It is well worth the trip to Olney

Stopped by here today on the way back from an outing to Brighton Dam to see the azalea garden. The grandchildren were hungry so we picked up 8 saltenas . We ate there which is a good thing because the saltenas are quite juicy and would be messy to eat in the car. You hold them in your hand and eat them from the smaller end - drizzle a little of their hot sauce in - and you've got a tasty lunch. The young man at the register was so friendly and helpful, and the saltenas were were really tasty. A good place to know about!
