Tweaked
Being a non-profit, we have a number of vendors and donors who send us holiday gift baskets...usually some sort of food item...sometimes it's yummy sometimes it's crap...so what tasty (or tasteless) treats has your office received. I'll kick it off... One generous donor sent us a Cowgirl Creamery Gift Basket...and I'm not talking 1oz samples but 1 pound chunks! Should go down well at the office luncheon on Thursday! demandalicious
I am definitely down with vendors who send See's Candies. Their caramels make me go like this.
bookluvingbabe
Our investment folks send a lemon poundcake from Rowena's. It was terrific the first 5-6 years but now it gives me acid reflux just thinking about it. I think we still have one in the freezer from last year!!! wahoooob
Jacque Torres.. although I was rather dissapointed that they skimped and sent the 25 piece box instead of the 50 like last year.
synaesthesia
We've only received one so far, but I can recount the worst from last year. It was a sure way to not inspire us to want to do business with them (aside from the terrible job they did). It was a fruit basket with bananas, apples, pears, oranges, and shelled walnuts. I remember a lot of these sorts of things from when my dad was in the hospital, and you open it and all the fruit smells like bananas and plastic wrap. BLECH. Plus no nutcracker to crack open the nuts? But what was the worst that the basket also contained grapes. GRAPES! Not wrapped separately. Not kept cool. It's a recipe for GI disturbance! It may have been an attempt at being healthy, but ended up being wasteful.
Malawry
Back at my last desk job (at a trade assn), one of our board members sent us a 5lb box of Enstrom's toffee every year. And our office only had about 12 employees! It was a bacchanal of top-notch candy. I still miss getting that toffee every year, and I quit that job in 2002 to go to c-school... Gubeen
Not really a gift basket but Zingerman's sourcream coffee cake was a great sent treat. Delicious and great with the morning coffee.
hillvalley
Last year my aunt's boss received a caviar sample-6 different types of the good stuff. He can't stand caviar so we devoured it during Hannukah. The best was watching my then 90 year old grandmother taste oesetra and beluga for the first time. She couldn't understand why she had waited so long.
